Omoyele Sowore, a media entrepreneur and presidential aspirant in the 2023 election, has lost his great-grandmother, Moyinoluwa Comfort Olawoye.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Sowore announced the death of the centenarian via his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday morning.

“My grandma mother, Moyinoluwa Comfort Olawoye, has passed on at approx age 100. We met for the last time two weeks ago during my visit my hometown. Rest in Power, Mama!” Sowore said.

Eight months ago (precisely in September 2021), Sowore’s immediate younger brother, Olajide, was shot dead by suspected kidnappers in Edo state.

Although Sowore, his wife Opeyemi, and children have been residents of Haworth, New Jersey, USA, activism has brought him to Nigeria.

He has been a thorn in the flesh of successive Nigerian governments, and has been sanctioned and arrested severally.

The 51-year-old contested unsuccessfully to be president of Nigeria in the 2019 general elections. He is taking a shot at the presidency again.
