Elder statesman, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi, has appealed to the so-called ‘Unknown Gunmen’ to withdraw their sit-at-home order, and allow people to move freely on Thursday and Friday.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that Amaechi’s appeal is coming as President Muhammadu Buhari visits Ebonyi State today (Thursday) and Friday.

Online reports made the rounds on Wednesday evening saying that the dreaded Unknown Gunmen have declared a sit-at-home exercise in all South-East states during the President Buhari’s visit. The armed group further threatened to be ruthless with anyone caught disobeying the sit-at-home order.

Reacting, Amaechi asked the hoodlums not to embarrass Igbo people before President Buhari.

“I read on social media that a militant group has stated the coming of the President to the Southeast. Please I want to appeal to whosoever, or group, behind the statement to please withdraw that threat.

“Anything that would embarrass us or the President would make things difficult for us (in their efforts to ensure that Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, is released),” the nonagenarian said in a chat with newsmen.
