Fabrizio Romano has just released another update on Christopher Nkunku, the Chelsea attacker who was injured in our final preseason game and has yet to play a competitive game for us.

The policy with all our slew of injured players has been to ease them back in very gently, and Romano insists that this policy extends to potential jewel-in-the-crown Nkunku. We’ve seen him back training on the grass, but there won’t be any rush to get him involved with the rest of the team just yet.

Chelsea will “take no risks” with the former Leipzig man, and instead are looking ahead to the upcoming international fortnight as a target for him. That worked out well with other injured players last month, and if it’s accurate could mean we see the Frenchman finally in Blue by the end of this month.

Even that seems a little soon – but he will certainly be very close to a return by the time we face Newcastle on the 25th of this month.
