Latest Chelsea transfer news as Victor Osimhen continues to be linked with the Blues after a huge boost emerged following an update from Napoli’s president

Napoli star Victor Osimhen is set to take his time before making the big decision on his future amid transfer links to the Premier League. Arsenal and Chelsea have been closely monitoring the 24-year-old with Liverpool the latest team to show a keen interest in acquiring his services.

Osimhen sees his contract expire in 2025 with a bidding war for his signature expected next summer if he does not sign a new contract. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has been firm on his Osimhen exit stance in the past, demanding upwards of £150million to allow him to depart, however his latest update appears to hint he is open to selling the Nigeria international.

“I have never been unhappy with Osimhen,” he told reporters last week. “But there are always two people in these things; I have remained the same, if his mood has changed I can’t do anything about it. If after a handshake things change, it’s disappointing, but we take note of it and then life goes on. We have excellent relations with him, his contract expires in 2025, so there is time. Don’t forget that I sold Koulibaly in his last year.”

As De Laurentiis mentions, Koulibaly departed Napoli a year before his contract expired with Chelsea signing him for £33million on a four-year contract and the Blues will certainly be open to signing another Napoli star, despite the fact Koulibaly left this past summer after only 12 months with the club.

With the signing of a new striker extremely likely, Chelsea must decide who to sign with Brentford star Ivan Toney of firm interest.

While Toney certainly looks set to depart the Bees next year, Osimhen could yet stay at Napoli with his current transfer thoughts being revealed. “Chelsea are still keeping an eye on Victor Osimhen,” transfer guru Fabrizio Romano said. “Osimhen will take his time. We’ll have to wait and see how it will evolve, even if it is sure to be one to watch in 2024.”
