Manchester United found an agreement over a transfer fee for Harry Maguire with West Ham earlier this month and subsequently opened the floodgates of reports linking them with different centre-backs across Europe to fill in the Englishman’s shoes at Old Trafford.

Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo and Bayern Munich star Benjamin Pavard’s names have been mentioned more frequently than others.

Pavard seems to be United’s preferred option to replace Maguire, as multiple reports over the weekend suggested the Red Devils have made a bid for the France international.

Bayern, however, were quick to turn down their offer despite the World Cup winner pushing for a transfer this summer.

Meanwhile, it’s thought that Todibo is much more calm than his compatriot regarding his situation in Nice. According to Nice-Matin (via Sport Witness), the former Barcelona man is waiting for United to sort out their business and submit an offer for him, but at the same time, he’s also focused on his side’s upcoming clash against Lorient.

United could knock on Nice’s door for £34.2million-rated Todibo should they fail to meet Bayern’s demands. However, the biggest stumbling block between Todibo and Pavard for that matter remains Maguire.

As things stand, his move to West Ham is off due to a number of reasons, including failure to convince the England international to move to London. Further, no other club has made any concrete approach for the ex-United skipper.

Should the situation remain unchanged, Todibo might have to continue waiting for the Premier League giants’ offer at least until January. The good thing for the Nice faithful is that it’s believed he’s happy at the Ligue 1 outfit.
