Arsenal have given London rivals West Ham an update on their pursuit of a Gunners star ahead of Declan Rice finalising his big-money switch to The Emirates.

Mikel Arteta’s men are poised to announce the £105million capture of the England midfielder after finally agreeing to the payment structure which had been holding up the deal.

But there are reports of another, less high-profile transfer also being done between the London rivals.

Arsenal have had a strong summer window so far, landing Kai Havertz from Chelsea, while Rice is imminent and Ajax centre-back Jurrien Timber is also set to sign.

That’s in stark contrast to the Hammers, who are yet to sign a player as they likely wait for the Rice money to hit their account.

But, according to Tuttomercatoweb, West Ham are keen on landing left-back Nuno Tavares from their fellow Premier League side.

The 23-year-old Portuguese spent last season on loan at Marseille following the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City.

And with Kieran Tierney seemingly remaining in north London, despite Newcastle’s interest, it looks as if Tavares‘ days are numbered.

That has led to the Hammers making enquiries over his availability, only to be told that the player will likely cost them £25million.

West Ham are not the only interested party though, with Galatasaray also keen on striking a deal.

However, at this stage, it appears that Tavares is holding out to see if a bigger club makes an offer for his services.
