Zamfara Govt Replaces Emirs Dismissed Over Alleged Banditry

Alhaji Muhammed Suleiman Bello of the Zurmi Emirate, Aliyu Garba Mafara of the Birnin Yandoto Emirate, and Mohammed Aliyu of the Bazai Emirate are the newly appointed Emirs.

The Emirs of Zamfara have been replaced by the state government after they were dismissed for alleged involvement in banditry in the state.

Emirs Abubakar Atiku of Zurmi and Husaini Umar of Dansadau Emirate have been dismissed. They were arrested and held for several months at Government House Gusau before being charged with banditry in court.

Alhaji Muhammed Suleiman Bello of the Zurmi Emirate, Aliyu Garba Mafara of the Birnin Yandoto Emirate, and Mohammed Aliyu of the Bazai Emirate are the newly appointed Emirs.

Kabiru Balarabe, the state government’s secretary, said:

“The three Emirs’ appointments are effective immediately.”
