Court Orders INEC To Accept Akpabio As APC Candidate For Akwa-Ibom Northwest

The Honorable Justice, Emeka Nwite, Judge Federal High Court of Nigeria, in Abuja, ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accept the former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, God’swill Obot Akpabio as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Akwa Ibom northwest senatorial district in 2023 general election.

The former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, God’swill Obot Akpabio, the Senate President Ahmad Lawan, and Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency; Dave Umahi, had been noted down by the All Progressive Congress (APC) as candidates for Yobe North, Akwa Ibom NorthWest, and Ebonyi South Senatorial Districts, respectively.

Notwithstanding, in the list printed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Senate President Ahmad Lawan, the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency; Dave Umahi, and the former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, God’swill Obot Akpabio were omitted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in the list of candidates for Federal Legislative Seats.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), aforementioned; “it could not publish names of people who emerged from primary elections which its officials did not monitor”.
