President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his condolences to his predecessor, Goodluck Jonathan, who survived a horrific car accident near the Abuja airport that killed two of his aides.

Buhari cautioned former President Goodluck Jonathan not to be discouraged by the terrible incident in Abuja, particularly in terms of his peace building efforts.

On Friday, Buhari sent a condolence message through his media assistant, Femi Adesina.

Buhari said he joined his fellow citizens in praying for the souls of the previous President’s aides who had died, and urged their families to regard their deaths as a sacrifice for the country.

In his condolence letter, Buhari added, “Let me express thankfulness to Almighty God for having President Jonathan escape unharmed from the disaster, but not to be diverted from his frequent local and international travels which are tied to peace building at home and abroad.”
