Men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and some personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) reportedly exchanged live fire at the state headquarters of the NSCDC in Imo State on Monday evening.

POLITICS NIGERIA reports that the incident which led to the death of two persons created tension in the area.

Details of the confrontation are still sketchy.

Reacting to the news, Deji Adesogan, a security analyst, described it as “a setback to inter-agency synergy” in Nigeria.

“The face off btw two security agencies, Police and NSCDC Operatives today in Owerri, Imo State, is unfortunate and a serious setback as regards inter-agency synergy. Discrete investigation is needed and culprits should be sanction accordingly,” Adesogan said via Twitter.
The spokespersons for the police and NSCDC in the state are yet to react to the incident.
