Some unknown gunmen have killed Sylvester Ntefre, a former chapter Chairman of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, southernNigeria.

POLITICS NIGERIA learned that the incident happened at the slain politician’s hometown in Ekparakwa, OrukAnam Local Government Area (LGA) of Akwa Ibom State.

The assailants who came in a black jeep, reportedly invaded Ntefre residence on Sunday morning. They dragged him out and escaped with him to the bush. There, he was shot dead.

The motive for their action is not yet clear, but political assasinations are not strange in Nigeria. Likewise, the country has been generally grappling with insecurity in the past few years.

Political analysts and security experts warn that as Nigeria is heading towards another election in 2023, the tendency for a rise in political assassination is very high.
