What Tottenham’s Daniel Levy did when he found out Mauricio Pochettino was getting the Chelsea job

Reports have claimed that Daniel Levy was actually very courteous when he found out that Mauricio Pochettino had been handed the Chelsea job over the summer.

According to The Athletic, the Tottenham chairman was quick to send a congratulatory message to the Argentine after he was given the job at Stamford Bridge.

Pochettino is preparing for his first match back at Spurs on Monday night following an extended and successful period there as manager.

He led them to their only Champions League final in 2019, as well as a number of title challenges.

Unfortunately though, he will be facing the form team in the Premier League, with Ange Postecoglu, another reported target for the vacant Chelsea job, sitting top of the league right now.

The Argentine faces a tough task coming up against his old side, although will likely be encouraged by his side’s performances against the better teams this season.

How Levy reacted to Pochettino at Chelsea
A week before the damning 2-0 defeat to Brentford at home, the Blues put in their best performance of the campaign in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal.

They also impressed in the season opener against Liverpool. There will perhaps be a feeling that they should have actually won both games so far this season.

It remains to be seen what reception the home fans will give to Pochettino when he turns up on Monday. After seeing Declan Rice booed by West Ham fans earlier this week, it would not be a shock to see him given the same treatment.

A victory on Monday will see the Blues make a real statement to the rest of the league, with Spurs currently unbeaten in the Premier League.
