Jadon Sancho faces an increasingly uncertain future at Manchester United after falling out with Erik ten Hag. The 23-year-old winger continues to be heavily linked with an exit from Old Trafford, with Chelsea being one of numerous clubs mooted as a potential destination.

Following the Red Devils’ defeat to Arsenal at the start of September, Ten Hag claimed Sancho had been omitted from the matchday squad due to his unimpressive performances in training ahead of the tie. Unhappy with his manager’s comments, the former Borussia Dortmund ace responded to the Dutchman, protesting his innocence with a strongly-worded statement.

Unsurprisingly, that didn’t go down too well with Ten Hag or officials at United and Sancho has since been shunned from the first-team. So, with that being said, football.london has taken a look at all the latest news and transfer updates on the trickster and his future at Old Trafford.

January plan

According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Sancho is planning to leave United in January and reignite his career at a new club. The report states that the England international is is ‘more likely’ to move move overseas than stay in the Premier League, with a host of top clubs chasing his signature.

It’s said that a transfer to Barcelona or Dortmund is currently ‘unrealistic’, however Juventus have recently emerged as an potential suitor who are interest in taking him on loan.

Lampard claim

In June 2021, Sancho has named Frank Lampard as his England hero when he was growing up, sparking speculation of a move to Stamford Bridge one day. As quoted by talkSPORT, he said: “My England hero? I’d probably say Frank Lampard. I was a Chelsea fan growing up, I’m not going to lie

“Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard were my favourite players at the time. I just loved Frank Lampard, how he played his game, he was so direct and so composed on the ball. I liked things like that.”

Warning sent

In an interview with Betfred, Glen Johnson told Chelsea to not sign the former Borussia Dortmund star. The former Blues defender said: “If you’re not getting in Manchester United’s squad, then you’re not getting into Chelsea’s.

“Jadon came to the Premier League with a lot of potential, but that potential only lasts so long and you need to start proving it. He joined a huge club with a massive reputation and he hasn’t done anything.

“He’s a bit like Wilfried Zaha, a player that offers an awful lot but offers very little. If you can’t work hard in training then you’re not going to play and as he’s currently not good enough for Manchester United, then he’s not going to be good enough for Chelsea.”

Chelsea offer

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea were offered the chance to sign Sancho as part of swap-deal with Marc Cucurella in the summer. However, United pulled the plug on a potential deal after the Blues left-back featured in the Carabao Cup second round just days before deadline day.
