Breaking new: ‘how Pochettino is treating them is uncalled for even if they are not making any contribution to the team’ Pochettino is being unprofessional, it’s hurt to see such players treated that way’-BBC pundit and Chelsea legend criticise Pochettino on how he is treating england duo

Chelsea legend Roberto Di Matteo has claimed in an interview with Sky Sports that Todd Boehly needs to be given time as the club’s new owner.

The American took over the club after a near-two decade run with them being under the control of Roman Abramovich.

This era was extremely successful for the Blues, with Chelsea becoming Champions of Europe twice, the first time with Di Matteo in charge.

The Blues sit 10th in the league, whilst already being out of both domestic cup competitions at the first stage.

There has been notable unrest among the fanbase about the new owner and current manager, Graham Potter.

Di Matteo backs Boehly
Di Matteo has claimed that patience is required by supporters to see Chelsea return to the top.

He said: “I think we need to be a little bit more patient and wait and give them time to stamp their plans and authority onto the club. Obviously, after 20 years it was a club that was almost functioning on its own, and now you have a new ownership that have different ideas and strategy. You have a new manager, so it takes a little bit of time for the dust to settle.

“I’m very convinced that the club will continue to be successful. The new owners have invested heavily into the playing squad and I think they will continue to do so. So it’s just wait, and I think it’ll be a success.”

Boehly has continued to invest this month, completing the signings of Benoit Badiashile, David Datro Fofana and Andrey Santos on a permanent basis.

The club are also reportedly very close to confirming the loan signing of Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid, although there is as of yet no option to make the move permanent.
