Manchester United are back in action on Saturday against Nottingham Forest as they search for back-to-back Old Trafford wins.

Erik ten Hag needs a performance from his United team after their poor showing against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend. They will have to do without Mason Mount and Luke Shaw who are both missing with muscle injuries.

Rasmus Hojlund is not ready either but he is in contention to play at Arsenal next weekend. Diogo Dalot and Christian Eriksen are likely to come into the team.

While United haven’t made the greatest of starts with their performances so far, they are still heavy favourites to beat a Forest team that don’t travel well. Steve Cooper’s side collected most of their points at the City Ground last year.

So, how do the pundits think United will get on? Here are the predictions:

Chris Sutton – BBC Sport

Manchester United have been really flat and lacking a spark but Nottingham Forest’s record away from home last season was not good and their main man, Brennan Johnson, has been linked with a move to Spurs. It has to click eventually for Manchester United – they had a bad start last season and they did beat Wolves, so I think they’ll win this one.

Prediction: Manchester United 3-1 Nottingham Forest

Paul Merson – Sportskeeda

I’d be a bit worried about everyone at Manchester United at the moment, given the way they’ve started the season. They’re all playing for a massive football club, and everything will be analysed.

It’s all right to play flair players like Mount and Fernandes in some games, but sometimes you need a player like Scott McTominay. Man United are getting dominated in midfield, and they need to sort that out. Casemiro needs to get it together as well – when he doesn’t play at his best, they struggle.

Manchester United aren’t playing very well at the moment, and I don’t think the manager knows what his best team is just yet. Nottingham Forest have pace on the counter and Man United are vulnerable at the back. In a difficult patch, however, you’d want a game against Forest at home, and I think United should be able to win this match.

Prediction: Manchester United 3-1 Nottingham Forest

Mark Lawrenson – Paddy Power

Nottingham Forest have three points but the important thing is that they beat teams like Sheffield United because they’re going to be hovering around the bottom of the table. Manchester United are unconvincing at the moment but I think they’ll win as it’s at Old Trafford.

Prediction: Manchester United 2-0 Nottingham Forest
