Blues have been rumoured to be the team Arsenal youngster Omar Rekik is in contact with as he is omitted from the Gunners’ pre-season camp, according to a Tunisian source Actu Foot.

Rekik had a brief spell away from The Emirates last season as he spent time with Championship strugglers Wigan Athletic.

The 21-year-old has been back with Arsenal since that spell though and despite being highly-rated by some fans, he is set to leave the Premiership side once again, according to a report from AfricaFoot.

Rekik will need to have a big season out on loan to get himself back into Mikel Arteta’s future plans. It is understood Sevilla are the Spanish club interested in his signature so it will all depend on his decision to move abroad or not.

Standing at 6ft 2in tall, Rekik started his youth career at Feyenoord before moving to the likes of Man City and PSV before kicking off his senior career at Arsenal in 2021.

The centre-back has made 3 appearances for his country Tunisia as he was selected by Mondher Kebaier along with other young players such as Hannibal Mejbri, a player Blues fans are familiar with.

He made his international senior debut for Tunisia on 15th June 2021 starting as a midfielder in the 1-0 friendly win against Mali.

Blues still have plenty of available loan spots to fill for the new season after making five permanent signings so far this window and Rekik definitely fits the bill as a suitable back up option.
